Why does the roof vent clog faster than a wall vent?

Because the lint has to climb. A roof termination sits at the end of a long attic-to-roof-jack run, common in two-story and infill homes here. Warm humid air leaves the drum, hits a hot attic, then a cooler metal jack. Moisture condenses near the top. Lint sticks to wet metal instead of blowing clear. Sagging low spots in flexible duct collect the rest. That is the mechanism, and no amount of lint-trap emptying fixes it.

Roof jacks bring their own problems. Many were installed with a screen, which is wrong for dryer exhaust and packs solid. Bird nests and wasp nests are routine in Houston. Dampers freeze open or go missing, so birds and rodents walk in. An uncapped termination invites them in.
